Can you please tell me anything regarding this coin? Thank you so much

Answer

Colonial replicas
Hi Angelique,
This is a vintage replica of an early Spanish colonial silver coin. The 4 reales was the half-dollar equivalent. They were also made in a larger 8 reales and the smaller 1/2, 1 and 2 reales. Smaller denominations were made in copper.
I have included a picture of the entire replica set, which features all the denominations. Such a complete set typically sells for $25 or so in a retail situation. At auction the price would be $10 or less for the group and just a couple dollars for a single piece. These have value only as curious items or study pieces.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
