Question I have a 1990 P and D uncirculated coin set. It is in an envelope that says "The United States Mint 1990 Uncirculated Coin Set" "With D and P Mint Marks".
The coins are in the cellophane inside the envelope.
There is no mint mark on the penny of the P package.
The other coins in the same wrapper have a P on them.
Is this the one that was made in error?
I have read that it will not have the "S" on it. Mine have no "S" on any of them. I read that the "S" and "P" are the same.
Is that true?
Thank you in advance.
Answer The cent without a mint mark is the Philadelphia coin. As a rule any coin without a mint mark is made at the Philadelphia mint. If you think you have the "no MM" variety, send the entire package to NGC to be graded. If it comes back as you describe but certified, you have a valuable coin.
