Dear Dmitry Livshits,

I have got a coin that i couldn't find any information and value of it. I want from you to tell me it's value and nation. It's something written like "chitato" on it. It's minted in 1840.

Thank you.

Answer
Hi Cem,
This is an early coin from Poland (Under Russian Imperial rule). The denomination is 15 Russian kopecks/1 Polish Zloty. Because your coin is well worn, you can expect around $10 for it. A really nice, high grade coin sells in the $30-$50+ range.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
