Coin and Paper Money Collecting/double-stamped penny

Question
QUESTION: Hi Joe,
I have a 1981 D penny that was double stamped at the top of Lincoln's head. The second stamp added a small extension to the penny above his head and clearly shows the bottom of his shirt in this area. How much might this be worth?
Thanks
Michael

ANSWER: Hi Michael,

Are all the details of the coin double stamped or just the parts you mentioned?  What about the date  and IN GOLD WE TRUST?

I would really have to see it to give a value.

Answer
Hi Michael,

These are quite common.  Great conversation piece, but not worth a whole lot of money.  They trade for $2-3 on eBay on a regular basis.

I actually have a handful of them that were part of a collection I acquired.

But, you never know what they will be worth in the future so hold onto it.
