Coin and Paper Money Collecting/need help identifying a franc

Question
I have a 1943 Travail Famille Patrie 2 Franc and was wondering how much it was worth. Could you please help me out?

Answer
Hi Glenn,
This is a Vichy French aluminum coin. These are quite popular with French and US collectors alike.
Due to a large mintage of over 100 million coins, they are not particularly valuable in circulated condition. A shiny, mint condition coin sells between $5 and $10 for the regular version. There is a more scare version that has a small letter B to the left of the left axe blade. This variety starts at $3 for a decent, but worn example and goes as high as $30 for a mint condition coin.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.

Experience

Collector of world coins since early childhood. Access to a variety of auction records and reference material. You can also find me on Facebook.
