Question
I have a Juliana Koningin Der Netherlanden Silver coin.  The back of the coin reads, Netherland Herrist  1945 10 G 1970.
Does this coin have value, if sowhat would be the equilavant to the us $, or where can I sell it.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Patricia,
This 10 gulden coin is a commemorative of the 25th anniversary of the liberation from Nazi occupation. Since the Dutch have switched over to the euro, this coin is no longer legal tender value. However, it has a collectible value that is higher than the legal tender equivalent ever was.
A mint condition example lists in the books for $10-$15, however I normally see and sell them in the $15-$20 range. There is also a proof-like example that sells in the $30-$50 range. This version will have sort of a frosted look to the portraits on either side and a mirror like appearance to the background (see attached picture).
For a worn example, the value lies in silver bullion. At 25 grams of .720 purity silver, the coin has a little over a half ounce of pure silver. At the current market, that translates to about $8-$9 worth.
As far as the best place to sell the coin... eBay is your most convenient and reliable option. There are plenty of bidders for these coins and I have personally sold four or five of these on eBay quite successfully.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
