Question
I have a silver coin that is more than an ounce but stated on the rim ONE TROY OUNCE. How much is a troy ounce?

Answer
Hello Gabe,

You scale may be a bit off. There is not much weight difference between the Troy System and Metric
In answer to your question One Troy ounce equals about 31.53 grams, and there are 12 ounces in one pound.  This is often used with precious metal measurement.

An USA ounce equals about 28.34952 grams with 16 ounces to the pound.

I hope this helps.

Good Luck,

PapaJack
