Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1877 Nederlanden

Question
I have and 1877 Nederlanden coin.
It has the words: NEDERLANDEN DFK KONINGRITK (worn)
In the center is a lion holding a sword, in a marching stance, with a background of stars. I believe the image of a shield is worn off.
There is a detailed ring diving the words from the picture.
On the reverse side: Ring of wheat, at the bottom a there is what appears to be a bow tieing the wheat together.
In the middle of the wheat is a numeral 1 and the CENT word is printed on it.

Any information you can provide on the coin would just be really neat to find out. :)
I have kept this in a trinket box for years is that a good place?

Thank you for your time and consideration.
Have a great day!

Answer
Hi Wendy, There were 6.1 million of these bronze Dutch 1 cent coins minted that year during the reign of King William III (1849-90). Collector value may be worth about $1 with heavy wear to around $8 with moderate wear to maybe $25 with light wear.
You might try Ebay.com for similar pieces for comparison.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
