Coin and Paper Money Collecting/190? Indian Head penny

Question
I have a 190_ Indian Head penny with a missing final digit on the date.  As far as I can see, it wasn't polished off.  To my untrained eye, it looks like it was minted that way.  Were there any such minting errors?

Answer
Tim,

Yes it is not uncommon for coins to come from the mint missing letters or numbers or other fine details, due to a foreign substance (like machine grease) getting into the die and preventing the full strike of the coin.

Estimated value would be about a dollar or two more than the value of a normal coin in the same grade.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
