Question
Dmitry,

Where would be a reputable place to get this coin appraised?  I believe it is in almost uncirculated condition?  What would be an approx. cost to have it graded?  And anything else you'd like to add to make it more helpful for me.  Thank you in advance, Ted

Answer
Hello again Ted,
The best service to have this coin graded and certified as genuine is the Canadian grading company ICCS. They do not have a website, but their contact info is as follows:

International Coin Certification Service
2010 Yonge Street
Ste 202
Toronto, Ontorio
Canada M4S 1Z9

Phone 416-488-8620
Fax 416-488-6371

This would be the most reliable and trusted company for the Canadian market. You may also consider NGC, an American company which is highly trusted worldwide. I am not aware of services that do appraisals on single coins like this, but being graded makes it easily appraisable by catalog value.
The cost of grading would run your $25 to $30, so it's probably not worth it unless you have a mint condition coin.
If you were to sell the coin on eBay or something like that you need only provide clear pictures of the coin and close ups of the water lines. The people who would bid on this coin know exactly what they are looking at.
Thanks again! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.

Experience

Collector of world coins since early childhood. Access to a variety of auction records and reference material. You can also find me on Facebook.
