Question
Hi i Have a 1976 drachma coin From what I've heard this was a special year for the currency could You tell me if it is and if so why and what it would be worth Thanks.

Answer
Hi Noah,
This coin from Greece is fairly common, with a value reigning from less than a dollar for a used coin to $5 for one in mint condition.
The 1976 year is not particularly significant. The big years around that time for Greek currency were 1968 and 1982. In 1968 Greece went from the Kingdom of Greece under Constantine II to the Hellenic Republic (via coup d'etat). In 1982 the currency changed from drachmai to drachmes.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
