Question

Hello I have a coin but it has copy above the eagle on the back. Is it worth any value, and what could that be. It has been in the family for over 50 yeras that I know of, maybe longer.
I would appreciate any response to my email address

Answer
Hi Mike, this is a copy or replica of a rare gold coin minted during the California Gold Rush when there was a shortage of government coins. It has no real collector value unless it was actually thinly coated with gold. You might take it by a local pawn shop or coin shop for a first hand opinion: http://find.mapmuse.com/interest/coin_dealers
