Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Bahamas Quarter

Question
In August 2008 someone asked about a 1997 Bahamas twenty-five cent piece.  Your reply was that you thought it must be a 1987 coin because a 1997 Commonwealth of the Bahamas twenty-five cent piece didn't exist.  I also have this coin and it clearly ready 1997.  Is this a misprint?  Wouldn't that make it work more?  What is the estimated value of a 1997 Commonwealth of the Bahamas twenty-five cent piece?  Thankyou in advance for any information...

Answer
Daniel,
Thanks for bringing this up, it turns out that the book I had referenced had a mistake and did not include the last few years for the Bahamas 25 cent coins. There is indeed a 1997 and is worth about $1 in mint condition. They are legal tender and exchange at a rate of 1 to 1 with the US dollar.
I will have to go and update that previous question.
Thank you.

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
