Question
First of all I have this coin I found and i have had it for a couple of years its a dime and it the date is 1957. I was wondering if it is even worth anything considering the date is not that old but still. It says "Danmark" on the back at the top of it and then below that it has 10 the below that it says ore with a slash the the o. Not sure what that is.And on the front of it has a crown at the top a big "R" below that and "IX" Below that.It has some scratches but not the bad can just be cleaned real well. It's cool looking never saw anything like this before. I would like to know if it's worth anything and the history on it as well. Email be back. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Angel, There were 13.2 million of these Denmark copper-nickel 10 ore (1/10 Krone) coins minted that year during the reign of King Frederick IX (1947-72). Collector value may be worth about .10 with heavy wear to around .15 with moderate wear to maybe $1 with light wear. Cleaning coins that leaves them shiny or scratched, even if only by looking with a magnifying glass, will reduce a coin's value by at least half.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
