Question
This coin looks bronze It has a coat of Arms on one side with a Crown of a King and says Canada and the other side says confederation 1867 - 1967 and in the middle looks like a tree with 5 points. Would really like to know if it is worth anything. Thank You very much

Answer

Hi Sharon,
This is a fairly common medallion and is one of a series that were produced for various events, such as the anniversary of the Canadian confederation and for royal visits by the British monarchs.
In excellent condition, it's worth $5 to $10, but typically sell in the low end of that range due to so many being available on the market.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
