Have acquired a 1899 liberty head ( $10.00) and a 1926 indian Head ($10.00) gold coins.Although they are not uncirculated they are in very fine condition.What are they worth and what is the best way to get the best price for them

Hi Steve,

Each coin (if authentic) will have approx 96% of 1/2oz gold.  If you check locally I am sure you can find offers in the $500 to $600 range for each coin.  Both are common for the type.  In order to get more you'd have to spend a lot of time and effort retailing the coins.

Please remember to never clean coins, this can damage and lessen their value.  Also, soft plastics can contain harmful chemicals that can react with coins over time.  Try using inert materials when storing coins.  Plus, it is always a good idea to store coins in a safe.  The safe should not be exposed to the elements and should not be up against a wall to the outside.  These are just a few tips I have learned over the years to help keep your collection in top shape.
