Question
I have an old coin, one side has a small star at the top, and what appears to be a dolphin and a cattail surrounding the number 10, under it are the letters ORE.  On the other side is a profile of a man, the words Christian IX on one side and Konge af Denmark on the other, with the date 1874 at the bottom.  What can you tell me about this coin, please.

Answer
Hi Lori, There were 9 million of these Danish 10 ore coins minted that year in Copenhagen featuring King Christian IX (1863-1906). Collector value may be worth about $1 with heavy wear to around $35 with moderate wear to maybe $70 with light wear.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
