Question
I have a Peruvian 1965 gold 20 soles coin with Liberty(?) on one side and grs.842528 de oro fino.  On the other side is a shield.  Can you give me some information on its value, please.  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Barbara,
The value on these gold bullion coins depends on if they have been in circulation or not. For a coin with even a little wear the value becomes that of the gold, which in the case of your coin is $300. A coin in mint condition with full luster runs at bullion value plus about another 15% collector value. If you would like to post a follow-up question and attach a photo of your coin I can determine which value applies.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.

Collector of world coins since early childhood. Access to a variety of auction records and reference material. You can also find me on Facebook.
