Answer
Hi Ronald:

Thanks for your question.

Your coin is one of the four special designs that were minted to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of Lincoln's birth. Your's is the first release, and was struck in Denver, CO. The regular coins were struck in Denver, D mintmark, and Philadelphia, no mintmark. Special collector coins were struck with an S mintmark for San Francisco.  It is not rare or fake. All of the coins were supposed to be released for general circulation, but many were hoarded, kept in original rolls, or boxes of $25 (50 rolls), and never saw use. They were released about every 3 months, with the last one issued towards the end of last year.

I'm going to provide you a link where you can see photos of all the issues and get a little more information. Link: http://2009lincolncents.com/2009-lincoln-cent-designs/

In 2010, the reverse of the cent will be replaced. See link: http://2009lincolncents.com/2010-lincoln-cents/
