Question
Hello   going through a collection I just inherited  .......found Swiss half franc  1850 with mintmark A.....condition vg-f.......any extra value here???  thank you    Harley

Answer
Hi Harley, There were 4.5 million of these 1850 Swiss 1/2 Franc coins minted that year in Paris (A). It contains .0723 of an ounce of silver. Collector value may be worth about $10 with heavy wear to around $100 with moderate wear to maybe $175 with light wear, perhaps about $25-$30 in VG-F depending on amount of collector demand..
You might try Ebay.com for similar pieces for comparison.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
