Question
Thanks for fielding my question.I recently came across a 1950-p roosevelt dime with a latge number of die cracks and cud. I am not an expert but I always thought you get die cracks at the end of the die life cycle. This dime is a very full strike, but has 3 very large cracks on the reverse, and an odd one on the chin, top of head, nose and around the date. The reverse goes thru the M and the bottom of the torch and is visible to the naked eye.Is this of any value? should I have it graded? Have you ever seen one that looks like a whisker, and a runny nose?

Answer
Steve,

It sounds very neat, but I don't think you would be able to get enough money for it to justify paying for certification.  Stuff like this has a very specialized and limited collector base.  I doubt you could get more than $10 or $20 for it.

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
