Coin and Paper Money Collecting/german coin

Question
A penfriend from germany gave me a coin that belonged to her grandfather. Its a little misshapen, and brownish, approx an inch in diameter and on one side it has an eagle spread out, and it looks like its been misstruck, as it shows another clear impression as if another eagle is next to it, but not overlapping the 1st. What is it, and is it worth anything?

Answer
Hi Helena, Collector value of a coin depends on denomination (face value), date, mint mark (if any), number minted and condition of a coin, including amount of wear, any dents, scratches or cleaning as well as collector demand for it.
What is the denomination (face value) of this German pfennig coin?
What date and mintmark letter is on it?
The type and extent of the error influences the value as well as amount of wear and collector demand.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
