Answer

Hi,
I actually had a question about this same medal just recently.
This is a Berlin medal commemorating Joachim II, the elector of Brandenburg. It commemorates the 300th anniversary of his communion, an act that was a move in sympathy with the emerging Protestant Reformation at the time.
Wilhelm III is shown on the medallion because he was the current ruler.
In excellent condition, like the one in the picture I attached, this medal is worth 150 euros (a little over US $200) on the German market. Auction prices on the American market would be about half of that.
I do not know the condition of your medal. If it's not in mint condition or has some damage, the value would be around $50.
Thanks for the question! =

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
