Question
I have a 1929 $10 national bank note from the National Bank of Texarkana Arkansas.  Mine does not have the extra bank charter # to the right of the picture that the T11's have. Can you give me an idea of what this is worth?  I would appreciate your help.

Answer
Hi Jody:

Thanks for your question.

I'm not familiar with National Bank Notes, but found one active listing on eBay that you can follow to get an idea of what the item may sell for. See:  http://cgi.ebay.com/Texarcana-Arkansas-1929-National-Banknote-no-reserve-/310279...

National Bank Notes were issued from 1863-1935 by private banks with federal charters as "national banks." Series 1929 national banknote is a small size continuation of the large-size national banknotes, which were issued between series 1865 and 1902. Small-size National Bank Notes issued from 1929-1935 have brown Treasury seals, are inscribed "Series 1929," and bear official U.S. Treasury signatures at the top left and right (Jones-Woods). The faces of the notes are overprinted with the bank name, two bank signatures at the lower left and right, and the bank's charter number at the left and right edges (Type 2 notes also have charter numbers next to the serial numbers).

You may want to check US currency listings under $10 national currency notes on eBay from time to time to see if your item is listed what this type of note brings.

If you live close to a local shop, they should offer an opinion as to the value at no charge. Always try and get at least two opinions and try and deal with PNG dealers if possible. If you should decide to sell your bills to a dealer, remember they will offer about 50% to 60% of the retail value. Here's a link to find one in your area: http://www.pngdealers.com/dealersearch.php
