Coin and Paper Money Collecting/coin value

Question

Coins
Hello Dmitry,

I have 84 pennies from ww2 and pre world war 2 from New Zealand and Australia, they were from when my father was there in ww2. I still have them in the sack he brought them back in.

They date all the way back to 1891.

I have never tried to clean them.

They have no sentimental value to me and if they are worth anything I will sell them, if not I will give them to someone who collects coins.

I will attach an image in hope that you can tell me if they are of any value?

Respectfully Submitted,

Chuck

Answer
Hi Chuck,
In the picture I see mostly British pennies and a couple from New Zealand. The Aussie and British pennies from 1937 and later have pretty much the same obverse, but a different reverse. This site only allows one picture per question, so I apologize if you wanted to attach pictures of both sides but could not.
Unfortunately the coins I see do not have much collector value in circulated condition. Australian pennies from 1911 to 1936 have good values with slight wear. British pennies dated 1918 and 1919 that have a small "H" or "KN" to the far left of the date also have good value if they have only a little wear.
The 1891 penny is clearly circulated from the picture, but is still worth around $10 if you can clearly make out most of the hairlines and leaves in the wreath in the hair of Victoria on the front.
As far as other pennies form these countries and dates, they really have to be in mint condition to get more than just a dollar or two per coin.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
