Coin and Paper Money Collecting/very odd Franklin half dollar error

Question
I have a Franklin half dollar with an obvious error in the date. It is a 1963 "D" mint and the 1 in the date seems to have a leg "kicking out" toward the 9. I wish I could send a picture as I am at a loss to this. I have researched all over and have never heard of this nor have I seen it. It almost seems the one is an upside down "Y". Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
The error was probably caused by a die crack, or gouge.
However, you should have it looked at by an error specialist.
One name that comes to mind is Ken Potter.
If you Google him, look for Ken Potter Errors.

Good Luck!
