Question

medal or coin
i found this medal or coin and ive been reserching but cant find what it is or made of or even the value could u please give me a hand thks dan

Answer
Hi Dan,
This is a novelty/souvenir piece, made privately rather than by any government mint. These are made of solid pewter with silver gilding. There are several designs in this series, with this one showing the archangel Michael slaying the demon. These are heavy and solid pieces, and I've seen several of them selling for $10-$15 on eBay. This is actually more than the vast majority of modern novelty religious medals sell for.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
