Question
i found a silver token/coin with alexander hamilton's face on the front his name above 1757-1804 below.  on the reverse it has the capital above says 'patriot-author-monetary expert,  and below says 'first secretary of the treasury 1789-1795, below this very small 'ncs 1969'
I would like to know possible value

Answer
Brian,

I believe the NCS you see on the medal is for the National Collector's Society -- a private company (like Franklin Mint or Danbury Mint) that put out series' of medals back in that time period.  This medal would be one from a presidential series they put out.

Considered relatively modern, there are few collectors out there that would [pay more than the silver melt value for this.  I would assume there is an ounce of Sterling in this medal, making its current value about $24 -- but if you blink, the price of silver will go up again.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
