Question
I have an 1878 cc Silver Dollar and I was just wondering the value is? I was thinking about selling it, but sure how to go about doing that without being taken advantage of, any suggestions?
Thank You

Answer
Hi Kathy, Collector value of a coin depends on denomination (face value), date, mint mark (if any), number minted and condition of a coin, including amount of wear, any dents, scratches or cleaning as well as collector demand for it.
An 1878CC Morgan dollar collector value may be worth about $50 with heavy wear to around $100 with moderate wear to maybe $150 with light wear. There were 2.2 million minted in Carson City that year.

You might try Ebay.com for similar pieces for comparison.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Guidebook of United States Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
