Question
Hey Brad,

I just recently inherited an old bill that my Grandfather had found in Japan during WWII. I'm interested in seeing if it is worth anything.

Year - 1948
Serial # - 262634  83-B
Front is printed in Chinese (I'm assuming)
Back is printed in English
"The Central Back of China"
10,000 Ten Thousand Custom Gold Units
Color of print is BLUE
Condition is fair - no tears, but has a couple of folds and some minor discoloration.

Please let me know what you can!
Thanks!

Answer
Hi Erika, WWII ended in 1945 so obviously he was on duty in Japan in 1948 or later.
Along the bottom edge of this Chinese note there is a printer's name: 5 characters in Chinese or Security Bank Note Company. The first may be worth about $3 with moderate wear, the second about $6.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
