Question
QUESTION: iknow errors are common on penies but how common is it for for the top of the five to be solid to the middle almost making it look like a nine an on another one there is a second rim following the first around halfway, also was copper used in 1943 or is it a defective date

ANSWER: The error coins you have a very common and not really collectible.
As for the 1943 cent, they were made of zinc coated steel becuase copper was being used in the war effort.  However a few copper blanks were left in the machine from 1942 and were erroneously struck as 1943 cents.  1943 copper cents are worth $25,000 and up.

QUESTION: how would i have my 1943 checked to make sure its real and not a misdated and how would i sell it.  thanks very much

Answer
First thing, put a magnet to the 1943 penny.  If it stick, it is made of stell and of little value.
If it doesn't stick, we would have to inspect it.  If it is genuine, I have private buyers for such items.
