Question
1983 Lincoln Cent
1983 Lincoln Cent
QUESTION: I have a few 1983 Lincoln pennies that are missing the figure standing in the Lincoln Memorial. There is a small line instead of the figure. I have checked Ken Potter's listings and book and I do not see anything. Could this be a special error coin?

ANSWER: The error was probably caused by grease in the dies, or worn dies being used.
Either way, I know of no additional premium on the coin.

QUESTION: So, it is not an error coin?  I also have a 92 where the 2 is deformed and it has like a uniform splatter. There is a lump on Lincoln's chin and the U and N on the reverse are incorrect. Do you know of this type error? thank you.

Answer
Yes, those are technically "errors", but minor ones.
Numerous minor errors occur in minting coins.  The ones you have are examples of that.  Only major erros are collectable and worth a premium; such as double struck coins.
