Question
On one side it says LEOPOLD PREMIER ROI DES BELGES  ON THE OTHER SIDE L'UNION FAIT LA FORCE 2 cent  the date is 1862.  The crest is a lion stand on 2 legs.  It came with a 2 cent coin, no date with a lion on one side with 1 paw on a pedestal.  Also came with another coin that says spiel marke on one side and a cod looking fish on the other side.  Could you possibly help me?  Thank you!

Answer
Hi Joann,
The first 2 centimes from Belgium, dated 1862, can have a good value if it is in excellent condition. Well used coins with a lot of wear are worth a dollar or less, while mint condition coins easily do $50+. The second one is too worn to have any value, since the values for these coins lie in the dates.
The "Speil marke" is a piece of German play money and literally means "story mark". They were made as toys for children, mostly as part of a set. There are some collectors for these, and a more unusual piece like the one you have would sell for up to $5.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
