Question
byI have a coin which i think is German.
It has a date of 1917 under the number 20 which is surrounded it laurel leaves. On the reverse it seems to be a two headed bird with spread wings with what looks like a crown above. There is no mint marks that i can see and there is no other writing.
Coin does have a milled edge.
Any information would be appreciated. Many thanks

Answer
Hi Brian, There were 127.4 million of these iron Austrian 20 heller coins minted that year. Collector value may be worth about .20 with heavy wear to around $1.25 with moderate wear to maybe $2 with light wear.
World coin pictures and some values may be found here: http://worldcoingallery.com/index.htm ,
http://www.coinarchives.com/ , and http://www.numismaster.com/ta/numis.jsp .
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
