QuestionI have a lot of German coins that I'm looking to know the value of them? 2 marks-- 1933-F (church#, 1934-A #church#, 1936-A, 1937-A %26 e, 1939- J %26 F ---- 5 MARKS 1934-A #church) 1935- F, D, %26 A, 1936 D %26 E, I know these coins are suppose to have silver in them how much in weight do they have? thank you
AnswerHi Bill, The 1933 2 and 5 Mark coins feature Martin Luther with mintmark below the eagle.
The 2 Mark coins featuring the Potsdam Garrison (church) were issued 1934 while the 5 Mark coins 1934-35 with mintmarks below the church.
The Paul von Hindenburg 2 and 5 Mark coins were minted 1935-36 without a swastika under the eagle and 1936-39 with the swastika. A mintmark letter is located behind his collar.
The 2 Mark coins contain .1607 of an ounce of silver while the 5 Mark contain .4016 of an ounce of silver.
2 MARKS--
1933-F, 100,000 minted at Stuttgart, collector value may be worth about $5 with heavy wear to around $25 with moderate wear to maybe $35 with light wear.
1934-A, 2.7 million Berlin, $3, $10, $22 in same conditions as listed above.
1936-A, none minted.
1937-A, 23.4 million, $3, $4, $5.
1937-E, 3.7 million Muldenhutten, $3, $4, $6.
1939-J, 3.4 million Hamburg, $3, $4, $7.
1939-F, 3.2 million, $3, $4, $6.
5 MARKS--
1934-A, 2.2 million, $7, $12, $40.
1935-F, 2.2 million, $7, $9, $17.50.
1935-D, 3.5 million Munich, $7, $9, $14.
1935-A, 19.3 million Hindenburg, $7, $8, $9.
1936-D, 7 million (no swastika), $7, $8, $9.
1936-E, 3.3 million, $7, $$9, $11.
