QUESTION: Hello I have a gold looking coin with the Imperial double headed eagle emblem on the reverse and Victoria Queen of England on the obverse, there is also no date on this coin. I think it could be a model half sovereign. I have attached photo's of this coin. Any help identifying this coin would be greatful.

ANSWER: Its a Russian Kopec, there it does not have Queen Victoria on the obverse.

QUESTION: Hi, thanks for your quick reply. Why would this Russian coin have Queen victoria on the obverse and is this gold or brass? Supplied is the obverse picture. Many thanks.

Answer
Ok, the obverse is a common Great Britain Victoria obverse, like what is found on a half farthing or three or four pence from 1839 to 1852, for example. The reverse is that of a common Russian one, two or three Kopeck from before 1866, for example. I don't know what you have but I can tell you what you don't have. It is neither English or Russian, and it is not a coin, so perhaps it is a private token or game marker, which would then make it very unlikely that it is gold. It is very neat and I have never seen one before.
