Question
I have a young Louis XV coin minted 1719.  Crest is on the back with crown on top.  The writing on the back says E. T. S. Navarrae Rex 1719 Francie. Would like the history and value.  Thank You!

Answer
Hi Debbie,
You have an early French 1 sol from the Reims mint. The legend actually runs "Navarrae Rex 1719 Franciae ET" and the S is the mint mark for Reims. It's a copper coin from the Kingdom period of French history. The copper sols and liards were made for the "common folk" while the silver ecu and gold Louis D'Or coins were meant for the aristocracy and merchant trade.
Value runs from around $5 for a well worn coin to well over $100 for one in excellent shape. the grading on these is liberal since they are normally crudely struck early pieces.
I can certainly give you a more exact grade and value if you post a follow-up question with a picture of the coin.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
