Question
When did the mint stop producing silver coins? In what Year?
Frank,
Technically, the mint still produces silver coins -- silver proofs, silver eagles, commemoratives, etc -- but the last year silver coins were produced for regular circulation coins was 1970 -- the 1970 Kennedy half was composed of 40% silver. 1964 was the last year regular circulation coins were made from 90% silver (dimes, quarters and halves).
