I read your answer about the strange little dimes, mine are from 1944, but I also have some 1944 20 centavos. Are they also of low value?

Hi BJ, There were 28.6 million of these 20c coins minted that year in Denver (D). It contains .0964 of an ounce of silver. Collector value may be worth about $1.50 to $2.50 depending on amount of wear and collector demand.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
