Question
hello brad! in the world catalog of coins (krause 2010), it says that there are counterfeit 1906s philippine 1 peso coin. what are the differences in the original and counterfeit of the said coins?

Answer
Hi Kenneth, any design differences would be evidence but weighing it may be your best telltale sign. This rare coin should weigh 26.9568 grams and would contain .78 of an ounce of silver.

You would have to know what you're looking for, be familiar with or have a genuine piece or picture to compare with side by side. There's no one single detail to look for.
If there were any physical visual signs to give it away then it wouldn't be much of a counterfeit would it. The ones you have to 'watch out for' are the ones that you can't tell any visual signs of difference.
So weighing it is usually the best sure way to tell.
