Answer
Hi Joshua:

Thanks for giving me the opportunity on answering your question.

I'd say you got a great deal. The United States Mint announced the sellout of the 2004 Lewis and Clark Coinage and Currency Set in its limited edition of 50,000 just six days after it went on sale at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, May 12, 2004.

Proof and uncirculated versions of the Lewis %26 Clark Bicentennial Silver Dollar were available during the introductory sales period ending June 11, 2004, for $35, and $33, respectively. Thereafter, the proof silver dollar was $39, and the uncirculated silver dollar $35. Taking into account the 100,000 coins contained in the two limited edition sets; the Lewis and Clark Coinage and Currency Set and the Lewis %26 Clark Coin %26 Pouch Set; and early sales of the individual proof and uncirculated silver dollars, fewer than 300,000 coins were still available.

I checked the EBay listings in US coins and currency and found one listing for items up at bid, plus four others in the EBay stores at Buy Now. The starting bid for the one offered for sale is $39.95 plus $4.95 shipping and handling. The Buy Now offers vary from $54.99 to $165 plus shipping and handling. There are also photos of the inside for you to look at.

This set was also offered on HSN, and sold out at $359.95 plus $8.95 shipping and handling. See: http://www.hsn.com/collectibles/2004-lewis-and-clark-coinage-and-currency-set_p-...
