Question
Hi, I have a coin that was my grandmothers. On one side it has 50 ORE on the other side it has a crown 1931 and sverige and it is silver. I don't know anything about it and I'm having trouble find anything online. Any help would be great

Answer
Hi Brittany,
This 50 ore coin is from Sweden and is indeed made of silver, .600 purity. This whole series was made in low numbers and in 1931 there were about 671,000 coins made. Value really depends on condition and can range from just a couple of dollars for a well used coin to over $50 for one in mint condition and still shiny.
If you wish to post a follow-up question with a picture of the coin, I can give you better information on grade and value.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.

Experience

Collector of world coins since early childhood. Access to a variety of auction records and reference material. You can also find me on Facebook.
