what is a 1945 and a 1948 Canadian penny worth and why does it have a guy on it

Answer
Hi Matthew, these feature British King George VI (1936-52). Canada is part of the British Commonwealth of Nations.

The 1945 collector value may be worth about .10 with heavy wear to around .20 with moderate wear to maybe .35 with light wear.
The 1948 may be worth about .10, .25, .70 in same conditions as listed above.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
