Answer
Hi again Robert,
This is a silver Spanish colonial 2 reales from the Mexico City mint. These coins were used for trade throughout virtually the entire known colonial world.
The grading on these is pretty liberal, since they are normally crudely made and have flat areas right out of the mint (some people confuse it with wear).
These start at around $10 for a decent coin and top out at around $125 for a really nice and well made example.
Send a picture if you like.
Thanks again for the questions! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
