Question

1873 Liberty Coin
Front of the CoinHi,
I have this 1873 Sitting Lady Liberty One Dollar Coin. Is this coin worth anything. On the front she is holding a shield with the words liberty on it and a flag, plus there are arrows where the date is and on the back there is a eagle but there is no motto above and  it which i found strange because i read above 1966 they put the motto on the coin. .

thank you for your time

Answer
Hi Nader, sorry, this is a fake coin. A genuine dollar would weigh 26.73 grams and and would contain .7734 of an ounce of silver.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Guidebook of United States Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
Counterfeits and fantasy pieces mass produced in East Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe abound of Chinese and U.S. coins, and many other countries'.
Weighing it may be the best telltale of its genuineness.
