Question

Obverse
I had a bunch of foreign coins that I have been going through. I was able to identify them all except three.

The first is only marked in Chinese characters and is very work. It has a square hole in the center, -- it may be a token instead of a coin, I really don't know anything about it. It is just under 2.5mm in diameter.

The second coin is copper (or copper colored) and from Italy. The front has a bust of a man facing right and has VIII EM . III RE E IMP. The reverse has Italia over an eagle over a C 5 next to a shield with cross symbol. Dated 1938 R. Has XVI on the reverse as well. Measures about 2mm.

The last coin, which I think is the best, I believe is a Sol Piece. It is dated 1691 and has King Louis the XIIII on the obverse. It is marked LVD XIIIID G Fretnavrex. The reverse has an "A" surrounded by four sets of crowned roman numerals II. Ving Impo Chrs Regn. There is a hole drilled in the coin as if it were worn on a necklace. I think its silver. It's about 2mm across.

Answer
Hi Will, Collector value of a coin depends on denomination (face value), date, mint mark (if any), number minted and condition of a coin, including amount of wear, any dents, scratches or cleaning as well as collector demand for it.
The first: This is a Chinese 'cash' coin. It looks zinc. It is so dark it is still hard to make out. Try this site for more info: http://www.history.ucsb.edu/faculty/roberts/coins/index.html .

The second coin: Italy, 5 centesimi, bronze, 1938, 24 million minted in Rome (R), King Vittorio Emanuele III (1900-46), collector value may be worth about .10 with heavy wear to around .50 with moderate wear to maybe $2.50 with light wear.

The last coin: France, King Louis the XIV (1643-1715), 1691, this is a silver 1/12 Ecu (10 Sols). This coin should weigh 2.261 grams and would contain .0667 of an ounce of silver.
Without the hole it may be worth about $50. The hole is damage and reduces the value of the coin greatly.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
