Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Bahamian Coin Sets

Question
My question is about the bullion content of Bahamas coin sets.  Is it the case that a proof set will always contain 2.87 troy oz silver?  And what is the situation with BU specimen sets?  I assume the 1966 set will contain silver but when does copper-nickel take over?

Answer
Hi Alan, For sets through 1973 that weight would be true. Silver was abandoned for copper-nickel in 1974. Silver commemoratives were still issued.
The gold coins were of different sizes and finenesses.
If you have any particular years in mind I'd be glad to answer.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
