QUESTION: Hi i have 2 coins which i sent you the pictures of which are 24mm and dated 1710 and 1722. The other is 26mm-26.5mm and dated 1710. I had a feeling they were from Valais but I'm quite new to this and wanted to make sure. Thank you very much for your help.
AnswerHi James, the 1710 and 1722 are 1 batzen coins. The larger 1710 is a 20 kreuzer coin. The first two are made of billon, a low grade silver alloy while the third is a higher grade of silver.
Following are the value estimates of the coins with heavy, medium and light wear:
1b, 1710, $1.75, $22.50, $47.50.
1b, 1722, $2, $25, $50.
20 kr, 1710, $10, $75, $100.
