Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Identity of coin

QuestionI have a small coin about the size and color of a US penny.
The front has a crest that includes what appears to be a standing lion, with a crown above the crest. On the left side is a large C with xiv next to it. On the other side of the crest are the letters Joh.
The reverse says 1/2 skilling with the word skillemynt below, the year 1841 appears below with what looks like crossed hammers below that. Any idea as to what this is? Thanks for any response.
AnswerHi Ed, There were 1.68 million of these copper Norwegian 1/2 skilling coins minted that year during the reign of Swedish King Christian XIV (14th). Norway was under Swedish rule 1814-1905. It may or may not have a small star beneath the crossed hammers, the Kongsberg mint's mintmark. Collector value may be worth about $1.50 with heavy wear to around $18 with moderate wear to maybe $45 with light wear.
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
