Question
Hi - I am not sure how much you know about NZ coins but was wondering if you would be able to tell me if the following coins would be worth anything.
1875 One Penny - Queen Victoria on the back with hair in bun
1901 One Penny - Queen Victoria on the back with hair down or cloth over hair - this coin has had a hold drilled in the top
NZ half crown 1945 king george on the back
NZ Threepence (Thrupence) 1948
2x NZ sixpence 1959 and 1965
Austrlian 50 cents 1982 (Commonwealth Games Brisbane on front)
Much appreciated
Rachel

Answer
Hi Rachel, Collector value of a coin depends on denomination (face value), date, mint mark (if any), number minted and condition of a coin, including amount of wear, any dents, scratches or cleaning as well as collector demand for it.
Following are the value estimates of the coins with heavy, medium and light wear:
Great Britain 1875 One Penny, .50, $18, $75; if an H mintmark below date then $5, $150, $650.
Great Britain 1901 One Penny holed, .10.
NZ half crown 1945, .2273 of an ounce of silver, $4, $15, $45.
NZ Threepence 1948, .10, $1, $6.
NZ sixpence 1959, .10, .15, $1.
NZ sixpence 1965, .10, .15, .20.
Australian 50 cents 1982, up to $1 if uncirculated (no wear).
You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
